Abstract

The presents paper reports large sized internal moulds of seven new and exotic bivalves from the Miocene rocks of Little Andaman Island in the Bay of Bengal. The fauna (comprising five taxa) include one new subfamily (Trapezicardiinae n. suhfam.), one new genus (Trapezicardiwn n. gen.) one new subgenus (Megalaevicardium n. subgen. under Laevicardium Swainson), and three new species [viz., Glycymeris (Glycymerita) gigantica n. sp., T. laiensis. n. gen. and n. sp., and L. (M.) hutbayensis n. subgen. and n. sp.].
