Abstract

Planktonic foraminifera comparable to Rugoglobigerina rugosa encountered in the sediments occurring at a depth, ranging from 577 metres to 585 metres in a borehole at Ambalapuzha in the coastal district of Alleppey in Kerala is reported. Significance of these foraminifera present in the bottom most part of the onshore sedimentary basin of Kerala is briefly discussed.
