Photomicrograph showing quartz shape preferred orientation (SPO) in a vein along with its IPF map and pole figures of crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO) obtained from SEM-EBSD analysis. The SPO indicates dextral shearing while CPO is indicative of sinistral shearing. The collage of images is prepared using figures 4 and 5 of Sarkar et al. (this issue), which highlights this dichotomy in kinematics.
