Prof. Harsh K. Gupta honoured with Lifetime Excellence Award in Earth System Sciences by Ministry of Earth Sciences

Prof. Harsh K Gupta, distinguished scientist and Emeritus Professor, NGRI, Hyderabad and President, Geological Society of India was honoured by Ministry of Earth Sciences on 27th July 2022, on the occasion of 16th Foundation day of the ministry, with Life Time Excellence Award in Earth System Sciences for his outstanding contributions in reservoir triggered seismicity, setting up of Indian ocean tsunami early warning system, establishing crustal structure of Himalaya and Tibetan Region and for his significant contributions in gas hydrates, geothermal energy and earthquake studies of NE India . He led the third Indian Antarctic expedition and successfully set up the permanent wintering base station in a record time of one Antarctic summer. He has compiled and edited the Encyclopaedia of Solid Earth Geophysics, published by M/s. Springer, a globally a landmark.
